The National Energy Insights Panel, sponsored by IDC, is made up of a select group of individuals across the United States who agree to participate in brief, confidential, monthly surveys about how they use energy and what they think of energy-related issues. Their responses help utilities, government agencies, and the media better understand energy customers' opinions and preferences.

Each time a panel participant completes a survey, he or she receives "points" that can be accumulated and redeemed for awards, including gift certificates to online retailers — along with the chance to win valuable sweepstakes prizes.
